Like plants, hair is renewed in spring. The extra attention that we dedicate in this season of the year will compensate to us since now is the moment of its greater vitality. Do this test to find out what health condition your hair is after winter.

Tips to Get Your Natural Hair Ready For the Fall Weather
The rain, the wind, the temperature difference between the inside and outside punish the hair. Now is the time to assess the condition of the scalp and control the rate of hair growth.

Roots in shape

Test 1: the scalp

Pinch the skin of the scalp, holding it firmly between the thumb and forefinger. Then place the fingers above the ears, area where the skin is more elastic. This area will serve as a reference for comparison with other parts of the head. Then pinch the skin on the top of the head and then the one on the forehead and temples. If necessary, return to the reference area to see the difference between them.

Results: The elasticity of the scalp will give you an idea of your state of health. If you can pinch the skin in all areas, particularly in the top, it means that there is good blood circulation. Or, in other words, the blood carries to the root of the hair all the substances it needs to grow normally. The difficulty in pinching the skin indicates that the blood circulation is hampered by a poor elimination of toxins (saturated fats present in the sebum produced by the sebaceous glands). These toxins, blocked under the scalp, can compress the roots, hinder their irrigation and weaken the hair.

Tip: Perform a massage in a suction cup to give more elasticity to the scalp and favor the elimination of toxins accumulated during the winter. Place one hand on top of the other and press hard enough to bring the phalanges to the palms, trying to pinch the skin of the scalp with a back and forth movement. This movement should be done on dry hair and over the entire head, from the nape of the neck and from the ears to the top. Insists on this last area and the front. Frequency: twice a week. Duration: 1 to 2 minutes.

Do you have a very thick scalp and can not get it between your fingers? It performs the same massage, but previously it puts hot and humid compresses on the head. The heat will help dilate the blood vessels and facilitate the massage.

A golden rule to reduce toxins: watch your diet. Take advantage of spring to consume more fruits and vegetables, raw and cooked. It increases the consumption of fish and white meat and reduces the charcuterie and red meats. "You are what you eat," the experts say. If you eat healthily, you and your hair will benefit.

New hair

Test 2: the dryer test

The test is fast and eloquent. After washing your hair with wet hair, stand in front of the mirror. Take a lock and hold it in the air, about 5 cm from the scalp. Take the dryer and dry the hair that is between the head and the hand. As the hair is drying, you will see some shorter hairs appear: it is the new hair that is growing.

Results: If there has not been an abnormal hair fall in the fall, you should have between five and ten percent growth compared to total hair. To measure the pace of increase since the fall, calculate one more centimeter per month. For example, if the regular fall season was in October, most new hair should measure in the spring between four and five centimeters in length. If not, take the next test.

The magnifying glass test

Test 3: the diameter of the hair

Immediately before washing your head, he raises his hand several times through his hair with the idea of picking up a few. Place them on a sheet of contrasting color paper and repeat the operation on different areas of the scalp: in the frontal area and the top of the head, the sides and the neck. Try to gather at least ten hairs and look at them with the magnifying glass.

Results: If hair is in good health, each hair, regardless of the area from which it comes, should have the same thickness. If you notice a difference in diameter between some of them, there is a reason to worry: it can be the result of a temporary fatigue. With some good vitamins, you will solve the problem.

A significant proportion of fine hairs, however, may indicate a more serious disarrangement, especially if there is little growth in addition to thinning (test 2). In this case, do not hesitate to consult a specialist to discover the problem and follow the proper treatment.

Advice: What are the best vitamins? You can choose between special multivitamins for hair or vitamins '' a la carte ''. The first will revitalize the hair if it is a good case of fall after winter. Specific vitamins along with localized treatments are recommended if the results of tests 1 and 2 are negative. This combination will give more vigor to the hair in the growth phase.

Which cocktail to choose? To begin with, a trio of proven efficacy: sulfur amino acids, main components of hair keratin, zinc that favors the synthesis of acids and vitamin B6 that enhances the action of the first two. If your hair is naturally oily, it uses vitamin B8, anti-seborrheic action, and brewer's yeast. If you have dry hair, choose a supplement that combines essential fatty acids with natural vitamin E, which will nourish from the root layers of the epidermis.
