Happiness is something that we all strive for, yet many of us find it challenging to grasp and even harder to maintain.
Decide to be happy. It's Your choice to be happy or unhappy.

It is much easier than it seems. Anything that helps you feel more positive and cheerful is nurturing you. The result? A healthier and happier you. 

Here are 20 simple ideas to help you start nurturing your happiness.

1. Acting as if it were already a wonderful day. - Do it, and it will be. Research shows that while we believe that we act the way we feel, in fact, we often feel the way we act. A great attitude always leads to a great experience.

It's hard to feel bad when your face is happy. Fill your bathroom or bedroom mirror with notes of your favorite quotes, goals, mantras and photos, and then reflect on them for a minute or two when you wake up.

3. Spend time with people who make you smile. - Who feeds and supports you? Surround yourself with these people. Spend time with those who reflect the person you want to be - people who do good things and make your life a little brighter just by being in it.

4. Try something completely new. - Go somewhere where you've never been. Do something you've never done. It will shake your vision of what the world looks like and give you a fresh new perspective on things. Variety really is the condiment of life. You can see or do something a million times, but you can only see or do it for the first time, only once. That is why the first few times often leave a reflective mark on our mind for the rest of our lives. So spice up your life! The more experiences you have, the richer your life will be.

5. Work on something that is meaningful to you. - Get involved in a meaningful personal project, or do something you've wanted to do for a long time, but you have not yet had the will to do Life is short. Today is the day to take action.

6. Keep a record of the things you are thankful for. - You can not help but feel good when you literally count your blessings. Start a gratitude journal and express your appreciation on a daily basis.

7. Dream big. - You can do anything you want. Visualize your dreams becoming reality and work to make them come true.

8. Listen to your inner voice. - Your instincts are good. It is important to listen to your own head and heart. Do not always listen to others. Do what your heart believes is right for you.

9. Trust yourself. - You are kind. You're smart. You are important. Your choices are as valid as any other people.

10. Appreciate those around you. - Tell your friends that you love them, thank them and say it seriously, put your biggest and sincere smile to the strangers in the street, embrace people longer than normal. The more love you give, the more it will accumulate within you and the more you can give back.

11. Give compliments. - Give sincere praise whenever you can. It cheers and rejoices those who deserve it. You'll be killing two birds with one stone, because when the person you're cheering smiles, you'll smile too.

12. Call an old friend and remember the past. - There are few things more satisfying than telling some of the best moments of your life with your most intimate friends, who lived those moments with you.

13. Be vibrant and colorful. - Express yourself. It injects energetic colors into the atmosphere of work and home. If not on clothing, then on your words and deeds. The world has enough gray! Be the antidote!

14. Be stupid. - Sometimes we take everything too seriously. Let it go. Be spontaneous and outrageous. Sometimes you just need a good laugh to lift your spirits.

15. Slow down. - When you are living your life at full speed, you are losing it for the most part. Stop and take a breather. Look for ways to adopt a more humane rhythm. Pay close attention to what you are doing. Do not waste time juggling forgettable tasks. Instead, focus on a few things that really matter. Commit yourself fully every day.

16. He is present. - Life is happening right now. Instead of living in the past or worrying about the future, practice being and living in the "now." You can not learn something new or discover a new opportunity that is happening right now if your mind is caught another time. Remember, now is the only time guaranteed for you. Now is life. 18. Take a deep breath every hour. - Take a deep breath, and another, and another. It's like a mini-break to recover yourself during the day.

19. Move your body. - Run, jump, climb a tree, take dance lessons, walk - anything that feels good, keep your blood moving. The only limitation: it has to be fun. Do not put yourself on a treadmill if you do not like the treadmill.

20. Stretch. - Take a few minutes for good muscle stretching. This puts your blood in motion, shoots your brain and gives you a few minutes to relax and return to earth before starting the next task. Also, it feels good too.

The happiest people I know appreciate what they have, keep an open mind to new ideas and adventures, use their free time to develop personally, and love good music, good books, good photos, good company and a good conversation. In other words, they do little things every day to feed their happiness.
