Kim Kardashian Has A Powerful Response To Body-Shaming Critics

Kim Kardashian caused quite a stir on the Internet on Monday when she posted a nude photo of herself on social media. Right on cue, critics came out of the woodwork to ridicule and shame Kim Kardashian for showing her naked body.

But this time, the reality TV star is fighting back. On her website, Kim Kardashian took her slut-shaming critics to task in a cutting essay that laid it out to her haters: Enough is enough.

"In all seriousness, I never understand why people get so bothered by what other people choose to do with their lives," Kardashian wrote. "I don't do drugs, I hardly drink, I've never committed a crime — and yet I'm a bad role model for being proud of my body?"
She also hit back at how criticisms directed at her always seemed to circle back to her sex tape. "A sex tape that was made 13 years ago," she added. "13 YEARS AGO. Literally that lonnng ago. And people still want to talk about it?!?! I lived through the embarrassment and fear, and decided to say who cares, do better, move on. I shouldn't have to constantly be on the defense, listing off my accomplishments just to prove I am more than something that happened 13 years ago. Let's move on, already. I have."

Get Over It Naked Kim Kardashian

Kim Kardashian has arguably remained tight-lipped about the barrage of opinions that everyone and their mother seems to have about her, but this time, her essay showed that she isn't one to take such criticisms lying down anymore:
I am empowered by my body. I am empowered by my sexuality. I am empowered by feeling comfortable in my own skin. I am empowered by showing the world my flaws and not being afraid of what anyone is going to say about me. And I hope that through this platform I have been given, I can encourage the same empowerment for girls and women all over the world.

It's 2016. The body shaming and slut shaming — it's like, enough is enough. I will not live my life dictated by the issues you have with my sexuality. You be you and let me be me. I am a mother. I am a wife, a sister, a daughter, an entrepreneur and I am allowed to be sexy.

Whether you're a Kim Kardashian fan or not, that her professional achievements throughout the years — reality TV star, business mogul, social media heavyweight — are continuously overshadowed by talk of her sex tape is perhaps the best example of how uncomfortably fixated our society is with women's sexuality.

And truly, who are any of us to tell Kim Kardashian — or anyone else, for that matter — not to post a naked selfie of herself, anyway? #NotMyBody, #NotMyBusiness, right, folks?
